How to bid on freelance projects |
Platforms
like Fiverr is a fantastic for beginner to start with but if you want to grow
and excel as a freelancer, you have to go to traditional freelance marketplaces
which includes UpWork , Freelancer, People per hour and Guru etc.
According
to Forbes, 94% of the outsourced jobs were directed towards freelancers. It
means that 9.4 million of 10 million outsourced jobs were awarded to
freelancers. These are old stats, I am writing this blog post in 2021 when on
one side, the world’s economy has been destroyed due to the Pandemic but
freelance economy started growing more because everyone is struck in his house
and he can’t leave his house to go for job.
Freelancing
is growing rapidly and will grow also in the future. So, in this millions of
jobs, why you can’t take them if you have a skill. If you are not showing
interest in freelancing and want to earn online, you are missing a big
opportunity.
“Whoever
is not doing business online, they business would not be successful actually
they are not doing any business”. Bill Gates.
So going
concisely, let’s move on the topic how you can bid effectively on freelance
projects on different freelance marketplaces. I ‘ll give some key points or if
I say the magic tricks. By implementing these tricks and instructions in your
bid, you have 95% chances to win a project on a freelance marketplace.
1- Identifying the
project:
First and
the most important thing is you should identify the project and its type before
bid on it. Please don’t bid on projects which are not according to your niche.
There are many types of projects on different niches or categories including
programming, graphic designing, digitalmarketing and content writing etc. You should focus on one particular niche
which is your expertise. Don’t waste your time and money in bidding on such
projects which you can’t do, it could ruin your profile.
2- Understand
Client’s brief:
Before
start working on project, one thing is really important and that is
understanding client’s brief. Select the projects of the client whose payment
method is verified, he should have feedback from freelancers and it is
fantastic if he had pay to other freelancers before. At least, payment method
should be verified otherwise ignore the project. Then understand the
requirements which client wants and if you thought that you could do that then
start bidding on it.
3- Checking time
and greetings:
After
checking that client is real and you can do the project, start bidding. Hey,
before start the bidding, look on the time that at which time the project was
posted. If you don’t look on the time it is possible that the client has given
to the project to other freelancer and did not remove the project. If you think
that project is still there, start bidding. First of all, start with a hi,
hello, hey and with that use his/her name instead of using Sir, this will
increase client’s interest.
4- Summarize the
projects:
After that
summarize the project by writing “I have understood your project you want……”.
Please check the spellings and grammar, if your grammar is not good it would
not have a good impact on client. Summarizing the project will give client a
relief that his project has understood by you and you can do that.
5- Introduce
yourself:
After
summarizing the client’s projects, introduce yourself. Introduce yourself that
what industry with you work, which industry with you have worked before and
present your experience that how many months or years you are in this specific
niche.
6- Presenting Portfolio:
Presenting
portfolio is really important. Show client your portfolio. If you are beginner,
you can take projects from your surroundings for free. Remember this is your
investment towards goal. By building your portfolio you can win as many
projects as you want. The portfolio can be on website. Many freelancers have a
website which presents their profile and in that website they have showcased
their portfolio. You can give the link of that website in your bid. If you
don’t have your website, you can give a Pdf file as a portfolio in our Bid.
7- Magic tricks to
attract attention of client:
·
Ask
a question: Ask a question in your bid can attract client and compel him to
open the project message board and then it depends on your communication
skills. A question could be the clear of doubt of the price.
·
Give
a special offer: You can give a special offer to attract the attention of the
client. Client will become excited after this thing.
·
Free
Mock up: You can offer him that you can give him a free mockup as a sample,
client will appereciate this and possible that he will open project message
board and start communicating with you.
8- Video
creation(elective):
If the
volume of the project is big and the price is also a lot, you can make a video
for the project using your smartphone. Pick up the smart phone, open your
camera and tell the content of your bid to your client visually. After watching
the video, your client will be aware of your communication skills. Employer
will happy that you are willing to the project.
9- Closing of bid:
Closing of bid is also really important. In closing you should give your contact information. The contact information should include skype account, E-mail address etc. At the end you can write, waiting for your response which can also attract the attention of client.
So, the
above 9 are those magic tricks by implementing of which you can win a lot of
projects on freelance marketplaces. I guarantee that 95%, the employer will
respond to you if you implement the things as stated above. Freelancing is just
the game of communication skills, if you have good communication skills, you
can become a successful freelancer. You just have to train your mind as a
freelancer and keep your mind according to your goal.
