Freelancing
is rising day-by day. All the new freelancers
want to choose such skill which is in-demand and high paying. Some are really
struggling to find a skill which can bring a lot of money in their homes.
People talk about the emerging skills and trending skills but very less people
talk about the in-demand skills which are also high paying and their value will
not lessen in upcoming years.
Many
famous blogs like Forbes talk about AI (artificial intelligence) and block
chain and they say that they will on the peak in near future but all the
beginner freelancers want to make money from now not in future. So, we are
going to talk about the skills which are in-demand from the last few years and
will also be in-demand in future.
I
have created the list on my observations and my experience. After, collecting
the data from freelance marketplaces
like UpWork, Freelancer, Fiverr, Guru and people per hour etc. I have chosen
the following 10 skills.
1- Website
development:
Keep
it or not but believe me internet is nothing about web development. Web
development has been the top in demand skill since last 10-15 years. Website
development include website for blogs, website for e-commerce, Affiliate
marketing website, company website and portfolio websites etc.
There are also sub-categories in web
development like some web developers make websites by computer languages like
html, Java script, CSS and PHP. Some web developers make websites using WordPress.
Amid
covid-19, the demand of the e-commerce websites has increased a lot. Website
developers are in-demand and taking a lot of money from employers on freelance
marketplaces.
2- Software
development:
Software
development is the skill which was in-demand and which will remain in-demand.
Software developers paid more than web developers. The importance of software development
can never be diminished because over computers are nothing without software.
When you look at the projects on UpWork.com and freelancer.com, you will notice that the most of the clients are
looking for a professional software developer for desktop software. Clients are
looking for some quality web developers for their desktop and cloud-based
software.
3- Mobile app
development:
According
to an estimate, about 80-85% of the internet population use smartphones for
entertainment and to perform their daily activities. This huge number of
smartphones lovers has increased the demand of the mobile app development.
There
is a huge involvement of Mobile app development in freelancing. The development of IOS apps is also in-demand but the
demand of the android app development has increased a lot due to great number
of android phone users. This is a really high-paying skill.
4- Graphic
designing:
Every
computer needs graphics and almost every video on internet has been edited.
Every YouTuber use a graphic designer to edit his/her videos. Every company
needs a logo and that logo is made by a graphic designer. The thumbnails and
post cards are also being developed by graphic designers.
The
projects of graphic designers are posted with a good number on freelance
marketplaces. Also with the increase in web development the demand of UI/UX
graphics has also increased. I think that it is the most saturated category on
freelance marketplaces.
5- SEO (search
engine optimization):
This
is the skill that has risen a lot in just few years. There are millions and
billions of websites and every website needs a SEO expert because a website is
nothing without traffic and audience. SEO
helps a website to rank good on major search engines like Google and Bing.
There are thousands of courses o internet
regarding SEO, you can take them and become an SEO expert within 5-6 months.
You have to practice to become a master. There are thousands of projects on SEO
are posted on every freelance marketplace.
6- Animations:
All
the major social media websites preferred video content because people like to
watch video, instead of reading an article in text form. Video in the form of
animation is trend in this time. Not everybody wants to show his face in front
of camera.
So,
they hired a freelance animator to do the job for them. In Fiverr gigs, people
introduce themselves by animated video. Animation is really in-demand and high
paying. You can learn animation from YouTube tutorials. Video editors use software
like Adobe Premier and for edit their videos.
7- Digital
marketing and social media marketing:
The
wide use of social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Linked In and
Twitter has created a high demand for digital marketing in the past few years. Digital marketers will get a prominent
place in freelance marketplaces.
Digital advertising experts who run Ads on Google, Facebook are earning a lot. The digital marketing strategists who
made digital marketing plans for different companies really in-demand. This is
also a not very difficult skill like web development and software development,
you can learn it within a few time.

8- Content
writing:
I
have observed that on many marketplaces, clients are looking for some creative
content writers who can write SEO content. Millions of people have their own
blog and they thousands of them have hired a freelance writer who write for
their blog.
People
are making a lot of money with writing.
Not only blogger but the daily newspapers also use freelance marketplaces to
find perfect writers to publish articles in their newspapers. There is also a
demand of writers who can write E-books. Some freelance writers are charging
50-100$ just for a single article.
9- Data entry and
virtual assistant:
I
know that there are many technical skills available in the market but the
simple data entry work has still its own demand on freelance marketplace.
Virtual assistant jobs are also posted on daily basis on every freelance
marketplace. This is not a really high paying skill but people are doing it
because it is easy and in-demand.
10- Online lead
generation:
It
is also part of digital marketing but this field has its own value. Every
company wants to build its lead. An online salesman can generate lead by contacting people on internet.
Some
online salesmen are earning a lot y just collecting data from people all across
the internet and then give that data to their client. Some are earning by
converting leads in to customers. I won’t wrong if I say that this is the
easiest and simplest skill of all the above. All you should have is the
convincing power to convince people.
